Have you ever started a health or weight loss journey, enthusiastic and ready for a change? And then, life happens, you go through a stressful period at work, your children need extra attention with something, a big move is on the horizon or one of your family members gets sick. Our priorities then shift, and we deprioritise our health journey, for something more important at that moment in time. I can relate to that statement personally, many times before I deprioritised my health, sometimes consciously and other times not so consciously. But you must decide, you must choose health and make it a priority through difficult life circumstances. Choosing to be healthy is a way of life, and not something that you choose to do sometimes, health cannot happen unless you choose health daily.


Why do we need support?

Support from a health coach during a transformation journey is key to the process. Support, according to the Cambridge dictionary means “to agree with and give encouragement to someone or something because you want him, her, or it to succeed”. My health coach supported me throughout my health journey. She was there for me when I struggled, helped me talk through my barriers, and helped me to reframe my situation so that I was still able to prioritise my health, through difficult life circumstances. She made me see that health is a choice that I must make every day until it becomes a habit. A healthy lifestyle is the side effect of making a habit of healthy choices.


Ask for help...

It is not always easy, there are times when choosing health does not come naturally even though it is a habit, it is then when that support from a coach, a family member, or a friend carries you through. But just remember that you need to ask for support, someone cannot support you if you do not ask for help. We all need help sometimes and if we can admit that change is easier with the right support, it goes a long way. I tried to do it on my own, I thought I did not need help, but the moment I asked for help, everything changed. After my health deteriorated in 2018, I knew I needed it, one decision to seek help caused a chain of events where I am now able to help others get the support that they need on their road to health. I am so blessed to work as a health coach and to witness the wonderful transformations of my clients. They inspire me every day to continue my health journey.
