I am so excited to share with you the second blog post in the series; The Process of Change
In my first blog post, Deteriorating Health, I explained the situation I found myself in when I chose not to prioritise my health. It took a whole lot of unhealthy choices to get to that place, but before I knew it, I was there. For some, it takes a situation where you are physically sick to shake you up and wake you up to know that you need change. But for others it is not so obvious, sometimes unhealthy habits creep in and stay in your life and the consequences of those choices are only seen much later in life.
Unhealthy Habits Creeping In
My unhealthy habits started to creep in when I moved to Witbank at the beginning of 2016. I suddenly found myself in a new town, with no friends and no family members popping in for a quick coffee. I no longer had a best friend and gym partner who I spent a lot of time with. I no longer had a permanent place of work, I worked for the same company, but remotely from my new home. Not knowing, I lost my sense of community and I started finding my comfort, or community, in sugar. Sugar in the form of processed carbs such as sweets & chocolates became my new best friend, my go-to for making me feel better when I felt sad, and for when I felt happy, emotional eating became a real problem for me. I did not realise it at the time, I only realised what started the chain of events after my health started deteriorating and I knew I needed help.
Do You Feel That It is Time for Change?
Do you feel unhappy with your situation at the moment? Do you find comfort in sugar, or food, or countless hours in front of the T.V, or other unhealthy habits that are not serving you? Are your choices a contributing factor to your deteriorating health, do the choices that you make negatively affect your body and mind? We are supposed to be good stewards of our bodies, we need to take care of the bodies God gave us. We need healthy bodies and clear minds for us to be there physically and emotionally for our loved ones, and to work actively towards our dreams and goals.
